Marianne E. Phalin, CPA

Responsibilities
Ms. Phalin is a Principal, serves on the Executive Committee, and is a member of the tax department. Marianne provides comprehensive tax guidance for diverse business entities, and coordinates the various tax needs of her clients. Marianne joined Miller Cooper in 1985.

Relevant Experiences
Ms. Phalin provides tax advice and financial consulting to a variety of individual and business clients. She has developed an expertise in the areas of sales and use taxation, and multi-state income taxation. Ms. Phalin advises many of the firm’s multi-state clients and is the Principal who oversees the firm’s State and Local Tax consulting group. Additionally, Marianne serves on Baker Tilly’s SALT Committee. Her business clients are primarily closely-held companies concentrated in the manufacturing, distribution and service industries. Ms. Phalin is a member of Miller Cooper’s Manufacturing Committee.

Education and Professional Activities
Ms. Phalin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Idaho and a Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. Ms. Phalin has served on the Board of Directors for a variety of charitable organizations, and remains active with the Junior League of Chicago, PAWS Chicago, and the Beta Theta Facility Corporation.
