Mitchell D. Pawlan, CPA, JD

Responsibilities
Mr. Pawlan is a Principal with Miller Cooper and an attorney practicing with the law firm, Mitchell D. Pawlan & Associates. He concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, asset protection law, trust administration, probate, elder law and business succession and business law.

Relevant Experience
Mr. Pawlan has been a practicing attorney for 20 years, and his expertise and the majority of his work is concentrated on estate planning and related services. Mitch also provides general business law services to many clients. He focuses on his clients’ personal and business wealth in order to pass the assets free of probate, estate tax and creditor claims. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Pawlan worked as a CPA for a large accounting firm in Chicago.

Education and Professional Activities
Mr. Pawlan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Illinois State University and his law degree from John Marshall Law School. He is a Certified Public Accountant. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the North Shore Council of the Financial Planning Association. Mr. Pawlan has been a featured speaker for many different organizations, including the Chicago Bar Association, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers and the Illinois CPA Society. He currently serves as the Secretary and as a board member for Genesis at the Crossroads, a nonprofit organization, and has previously served on the Anti-Defamation League’s Midwest Executive Board and Speaker’s Bureau. Mr. Pawlan is a past Treasurer and board member of the Hemophilia Foundation of Illinois.
